Therapeutic exercises are used to accelerate recovery time, enhance patient performance, help mobilise patients and improve patient mobility. Certain therapeutic exercises can be done at home which accelerates the patient’s rehabilitation and enables a special owner-patient bond which enhances patient recovery. We use a range of equipment for the therapeutic exercises, including Physio rolls, Bosu balls, Swiss balls, foam rollers, rebounders/trampolines and a land treadmill.
Rebounding
Rebounding is a low impact, full body exercise with an increased gravitational force at the bottom of the bounce which stimulates every cell in the body. Rebounding has many benefits including strengthening the musculoskeletal system, improving lymph drainage, promoting tissue repair, improving transmission of nerve impulses and improving balance which is why it is so beneficial in animal rehabilitation.
Land Treadmill
The treadmill is useful to encourage the use of a limb in non-weight bearing patients and can be used to correct gait patterning. Treadmill walking is also beneficial in building muscle strength and cardiovascular endurance.
